- Seal – Always seal your stone, regardless of type and finish. Good quality sealer, seal it until it won’t take any more, and you’ll have very few problems with your stone.
- Clean – Less is more. Dust mop regularly and use an appropriate sealer for your specific stone type. Professional restoration should be thought of like shampooing your carpet and refinishing wood floors.
- Test – Test your sealer’s effectiveness every 6-12 months by seeing if it repels water. A few drops of water should not quickly darken the stone.
